Terra Strategies is seeking qualified, highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Canvass Director to lead voter mobilization programs in support of progressive candidates and issues in key battleground states.

 
Terra Strategies is a national public affairs and political consulting firm that specializes in direct voter contact on behalf of progressive candidates and causes. Terra Strategies has had projects in 40 of the 50 states and our past clients include DCCC, DSCC, DGA, and everything from large statewide initiatives to small down-ballot campaigns.

 
We are searching for applicants that are looking to gain immediate managerial and political experience, while working to promote progressive ideas and ideologies. We currently have projects set up in multiple states throughout the country and expect to expand exponentially this election cycle. Thus, opportunities for rapid advancement are certainly available.

 
The Canvass Director is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the canvass program and will report directly to Terra Strategies leadership. Successful applicants will possess at least one year of field management experience on an issue advocacy or candidate campaign. Field Director or Regional Field Director experience is strongly preferred.

 

Applicants for the position must possess strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. They must also be willing to relocate as necessary, possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. The willingness to work extended hours and weekends is also required.

 

Canvass Director Responsibilities

Start-Up: Securing office space and essential infrastructure in consultation with Terra Strategies leadership, including the hiring of additional management staff as needed.
Program Administration: Driving the recruitment, hiring and training of canvass teams. Oversight of human resource processes, including employee vetting, orientation and payroll.
Management: Providing all staff with the positive leadership culture, resources, guidance and technical support required to succeed during each phase of the program while ensuring compliance with all Terra Strategies policies and best practices.
Accountability: Ensuring that all employees maintain accurate and reliable data for all relevant facets of the program. Communicating all pertinent on-the-ground information and providing timely response to requests from Terra Strategies leadership and/or the client.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience: A minimum of one year field management experience (RFD level and above). Proficiency with VAN, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs. Previous payroll experience a plus.
Skills: A strong commitment to progressive values, including diversity, equality for all and economic justice. Strong communication and organizational skills. An understanding and appreciation of the urgent nature and time demands of campaigns.
Miscellaneous: Willingness to work long hours and weekends. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and an ability to relocate as needed.

 

Compensation and Application Submission

Terra Strategies offers a highly competitive salary, based on experience. This position is salaried, fulltime, short-term positions. All applicants are subject to a criminal background check.
